Call for Abstracts

Per3S is a workshop bringing together French/French-speaking community members to discuss performance and scalability of storage systems. These topics emcompass HPC storage and cloud-oriented architectures characterized with extreme scalability needs. Expected contributions may be of application, systems, and architectural nature.

The need for a better understanding of storage systems performance results from a joint evolution of the technology as well as its usage mode.

The availability of new technologies such as NVMe and Storage Class Memories (SCM) fundamentally breaks the grounds upon which past technologies were built. Previously, systems could be seen as three clearly identified components, each one with its own order of magnitude in terms of access latency: main memory - nanosecond, network – microsecond, and secondary storage – millisecond. This hierarchy is altered by new technologies which access latencies vary from a few microseconds to a few tens of microseconds. The usage of such storage technologies evolves conjointly, in particular in the context of cloud computing.

This 4th edition of Per3S aims to bring together, for a full day, researchers from academic and industrial backgrounds, junior and senior, in order to discuss these problematics. Contributions will be composed of expert presentations (by invitation) and young researchers presentations (abstract submissions).

Per3S fully encourages young PhD candidates to present their thesis work.

The authors of accepted abstracts will have the opportunity to perform a 5 to 10 minutes presentation in addition to a poster presentation.

The workshop will take place in Bordeaux on January 25, 2019.
